Luis Miguel Procel holds bachelor’s degrees in Physics and Electronic Engineering from Universidad San Francisco de Quito (USFQ). He later earned a master’s degree in Digital Image Processing from Universitat Pompeu Fabra and completed his Ph.D. in Microelectronics at the University of Calabria.

Beyond his academic contributions, he was the founding president of the joint IEEE EDS-CASS chapter in Ecuador and served as General Chair of the international conference LASCAS 2023. He is currently a Full Professor in the Department of Electronic Engineering at USFQ, where he also leads the Master’s Program in Nanoelectronics and advises the university’s IEEE Student Branch.

Luis Miguel is General Chair of the IEEE Latin America & the Caribbean Semiconductor Summit (LACSS) 2025 and Technical Program Chair of LASCAS 2026, to be held in Arequipa, Peru. He collaborates actively with international institutions such as TU Delft (Netherlands), ISEP (Institut Supérieur d’Électronique de Paris), the Polytechnic Institute of Toulouse, and the University of Calabria.
