Alfredo Arnaud, Ph.D.

Director of the Department of Engineering, Catholic University of Uruguay (UCU)

Dr. Alfredo Arnaud is director of the Department of Engineering at the Catholic University of Uruguay (UCU) where he started the μDIE research group in microelectronics and IoT in 2005. He is co-founder of three technology companies Chipmate, BQN, and ABM where he has led among others the development of ASICs for implantable medical devices, and electronic products such as an RFID reader according to the ISO11784/85 standard for traceability and livestock management. He has worked in microelectronics and electronics design for companies in Uruguay, Brazil, the United States, Canada, Belgium, and India. Dr. Arnaud is a Level III researcher at the SNI of Uruguay, and is general-chair of the IEEE Conference on Agrifood Electronics 2025 to be held in Montevideo.
